“Vigan’s St. Paul Fiesta: A Celebration of Tradition and Joy”

Thematic output - "Let's travel and Blog"                                                                                 Quarter 3

The Bigueños honor the Fiesta of the Conversion of St. Paul by blending heartfelt religious devotion with colorful cultural festivities.

Aside from religious activities, the fiesta includes colorful cultural events and tourism programs. The streets are crowded with locals and visitors watching parades, street performances, and the famous Longganisa Festival. Families and communities gather, making the city lively and joyful while showcasing Vigan’s traditions and unity.

One of the most exciting moments I experienced was the Longganisa Festival. The streets were alive with people eager to join the celebration as Vigan proudly presented its famous delicacy. The energy of the crowd, the festive atmosphere, and the smiles everywhere reflected the Bigüeños’ strong love for their traditions.

January 22, 2026 when I watch the longganisa festival, I really enjoyed watching the Longganisa festival especially that I’m with my friends that I value the most. I watched all the performers from each category who joined the longganisa festival along with the performer who joined from our school (ilocos sur national high school) which is they’re one of the reason why I watched longganisa festival.

The performers gave us goosebumps, the youth performers typically perform with high energy and precise synchronization. They execute wide, exaggerated steps and dynamic formations that draw the audience’s attention. Their choreography blends traditional movements with modern styles, creating a performance that is both exciting and visually striking. Vibrant costumes and props, such as fans or banners, add flair and highlight their creativity.

Street dancing is done to celebrate culture, traditions, and community. At festivals like the Fiesta of the Conversion of St. Paul in Vigan, it brings people together, entertains the audience, and shows the dancers’ creativity and skills. By mixing traditional steps with modern moves, it makes the celebration lively, colorful, and memorable.

Overall, the Fiesta of the Conversion of St. Paul shows the true beauty of Vigan—its strong faith, preserved culture, and warm people. Witnessing this celebration made me happy and grateful to experience how the Bigueños keep their heritage alive. It is not just a festival, but a celebration of identity, unity, and tradition.

Reflection on growth amd challenges on 3rd quarter

During the third quarter, I gained many new insights and experiences that helped me grow both in my studies and as a person. I learned how to manage my time more effectively while handling schoolwork, activities, and other responsibilities. I also developed new skills, such as understanding lessons more clearly, expressing my ideas with confidence, and completing tasks and projects more efficiently. These experiences taught me that learning is not only about grades but also about personal growth and responsibility.

However, the quarter was not without challenges. I experienced academic pressure due to tight deadlines, quizzes, and several requirements given at the same time. There were moments when I felt tired, stressed, or unmotivated, especially when lessons were difficult to understand or tasks felt overwhelming. Staying focused and meeting expectations was sometimes challenging.

To overcome these difficulties, I learned the importance of being organized and asking for help. I made an effort to plan ahead, prioritize my tasks, and manage my schedule wisely. I also sought guidance from my teachers, classmates, and family whenever I felt confused or pressured. Taking short breaks, maintaining a positive attitude, and reminding myself of my goals helped me stay motivated and continue improving.
As I move forward, I will continue working on strengthening my discipline, confidence, and determination. I will use the lessons I learned to face future challenges with a more positive mindset. I aim to be more responsible and proactive in my studies, manage my time better, and trust in my abilities as I strive to grow and do even better in the coming quarters.

Jose Rizal the face and heart of the Philippines

Jose Rizal is often the first figure that comes to mind when the Philippines is mentioned globally. As the nation’s national hero, his likeness is featured on Philippine money, in public plazas, at schools, and on government papers – which is why he is widely called “The Face of the Philippines.” Yet far beyond his recognizable image, Rizal embodies the core spirit of the Filipino people: combining sharp intellect, bravery, kindness, and profound patriotism. Born in Calamba, Laguna on June 19, 1861, Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda was an extraordinarily gifted individual – working as a doctor, author, poet, artist, linguist, and advocate for change who devoted his life to lifting the Philippines out from under Spanish colonial rule.

‎Rather than wielding weapons, Rizal fought for his country with words. His influential novels Noli Me Tángere (1887) and El Filibusterismo (1891) brought to light the widespread corruption, unfairness, and cruelty of colonial society, igniting a countrywide push for reform. Through his writings, he urged Filipinos to challenge unjust structures and pursue self-governance, stressing that real advancement stems from learning and ethical strength. He established La Liga Filipina, a community organization focused on uniting the nation and pursuing progress through peaceful means. Even while exiled in Dapitan between 1892 and 1896, he kept serving locals – constructing schools, improving agricultural methods, and offering healthcare to those in need.

His steadfast dedication to his beliefs led to his untimely death. On December 30, 1896, Rizal was put to death by firing squad in Bagumbayan, now known as Luneta Park, after being accused of rebellion. While his life was cut short, his message only grew stronger – fueling the Filipino revolution and laying the groundwork for the country’s independence in 1946. Today, his legacy endures in every Filipino who cherishes freedom, knowledge, and fairness. His life and works are taught in schools across the country, and his monument in Luneta Park serves as a lasting symbol of the cost of freedom and the impact of nonviolent resistance.

The true meaning of christmas season

 4th blog post

The true meaning of christmas season

‎‎Christmas is more than colorful lights, gifts, and festive music—it is a season that reminds people of love, faith, and togetherness. At its essence, Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, symbolizing hope, humility, and God’s love for humanity. This special time of the year encourages people to pause from their busy lives and reflect on what truly matters: kindness, gratitude, and compassion for others.
One of the most meaningful parts of the Christmas season is the spirit of giving. Families and communities come together to share meals, exchange simple gifts, and help those in need. Acts of generosity—such as donating, volunteering, or simply spending time with loved ones—reflect the true message of Christmas. These moments strengthen relationships and create lasting memories rooted in love and selflessness.
‎In essence, the celebration of Christmas goes beyond material things. It is a time to renew faith, spread joy, and practice love in everyday actions. By living out these values, the true meaning of Christmas continues long after the season ends.
